Chinese Embassy Spokesperson Responds to Media Question on Certain Knesset Member’s Visit to Taiwan
2026-05-06 21:16

Question: Recently, Boaz Toporovsky, a member of the Knesset from the Yesh Atid, once again visited China’s Taiwan. What is your comment on this?

Embassy Spokesperson: MK Toporovsky of the Yesh Atid, together with several other MKs, once again visited Taiwan and made erroneous remarks regarding the Taiwan question. These have seriously violated the one-China principle and undermined the political foundation of China-Israel relations. The Chinese Embassy in Israel hereby expresses its strong condemnation.

There is but one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. The government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China. The one-China principle is a prevailing international consensus and a basic norm governing international relations. At present, the greatest threat to peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait is the separatist activities of the Taiwan authorities advocating “Taiwan independence”. China will never allow anyone, in any form, to separate Taiwan from China, nor will it allow any external forces to obstruct China’s reunification.

The China-Israel Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations clearly states that “the Government of the State of Israel recognizes that the Government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China and Taiwan is an inalienable part of the territory of the People’s Republic of China”. The relevant MKs have repeatedly and blatantly violated the Israeli government’s position of adhering to the one-China policy, colluding with “Taiwan independence” separatist forces, and provoking confrontation across the Taiwan Strait. Their actions are despicable. We urge the relevant MKs to immediately cease their erroneous words and deeds, not to underestimate the firm resolve of the Chinese government and the Chinese people in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and not to believe that one can cross red lines on the Taiwan question without paying any price.
