On February 22nd, Ambassador GAO Yanping met with President of Tel Aviv University Prof. Kalfter and his wife at her Official Residence. Mr. XUE Hualing, Head of the Education Section of the Embassy and Mr. Gong Jinpei, Head of the Cultural Section, were also present.

Ambassador Gao made positive comments on the cooperation between Tel Aviv University and China in areas of education, technology, personnel exchanges and Chinese Language teaching, and briefed Mr. Klafter on a series of celebration events in honor of the 20th anniversary of China-Israel diplomatic relations. She also appreciated that President Klafter could continue to exert positive influence to promote a better understanding between the two peoples and the friendly cooperation between the two countries.

President Klafter commented that China had made admirable achievements since it started its reform and opening-up to the outside world more than 30 years ago; Especially, China made gratifying accomplishments in terms of fundamental researches and scientific & technological innovation, adding that Tel Aviv University looked forward to further strengthening its exchanges and cooperation with China in the area of education.

During the meeting, Ambassador Gao and President Klafter also had an in-depth exchange of views on a number of topics like the construction of the Confucius Institute under Tel Aviv University, events in celebration of the 20th anniversary of China-Israel diplomatic ties, etc. and they two reached broad consensus as well.
