China (Nanjing)-Israel High-tech Cooperation Meeting

On November 30th, Ambassador Gao Yanping was invited to attend and deliver a speech at China (Nanjing) - Israeli High-tech Cooperation Meeting in Tel aviv. H.E. Mr. Yang weize, Party Secretary of Nanjing Municipal Committee of the CPC, Mr. Michael Hivert, Director of Industrial R & D Center of Israeli Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor, and Mr. Amiram Shore, Chairman of Isreal Association of Information and Technology also attended the meeting and delivered speeches. More than 150 people were present, including Mr. Zhou Guolin, Counselor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China to Israel, all the Nanjing delegation members as well as government officials, entrepreneurs and business people from both countries.

Mr. Yang was the first to deliver the opening speech, He said that Israel is one of typical representative of innovative countries, while, Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu not only has an ancient history and profound cultural heritage as Israel does, but also has rich scientific and technological human resources. The strong cooperation between Nanjing and Israel over years proved to be the most effective cooperation. He hope that China (Nanjing)-Israel High-tech Cooperation Meeting will be able to open more channels and to provide more opportunities for two sides to cooperate.

Ambassador Gao said in her speech that China has high-educated human resources and a huge market, the Israeli scientific and technological innovation capability is leading the top of world, these complements provide broad prospects of cooperation for both sides. She spoke highly of the achievements of Sino-Israel cooperation in various fields since the establishment of diplomatic ties between two countries, especially the most impressive accomplishment of industrial R & D cooperation between Jiangsu and Israel, because of this success, the model of cooperation between Jiangsu and Israel was named as "Jiangsu Model of Cooperation". She stressed that as a vanguard involving in R & D activities in Jiangsu Province, Nanjing plays a very important positive role in the Jiangsu-Israel industrial R & D cooperation. She hopes in 2012, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic ties between China and Israel, the two sides should take the advantage of China (Nanjing)-Israel High-tech Cooperation Meeting to learn from each other, to promote each other and to continue to strengthen pragmatic cooperation of two sides. She wished the meeting a complete success and the cooperation between Nanjing and Israel achieve more fruitful results.

Mr. Hivert said he is absolutely satisfied with achievements of industrial R & D cooperation between Israel and China. He noted that among 42 industrial R & D cooperation agreements singed between Israel and other foreign countries, the Israel - Jiangsu Cooperation Agreement is the best implemented one with the most prominent achievements. He believes that Israeli industrial R & D cooperation with Nanjing will also be a fruitful and mutually beneficial win-win situation.

During the meeting, Nanjing and IDB/Infinity signed a MOU on setting up a Jiangsu (Nanjing)-Israel technology incubator, another five cooperation agreements were also signed by Nanjing and Israeli business parties.
