On 15 January 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Israel Xiao Junzheng presented his Letter of Credence to President Isaac Herzog at the President’s Residence in Israel, followed by a cordial meeting between the two sides.
President Herzog expressed his sincere greetings and warm regards to President Xi Jinping. President Herzog said that the bond between his family and China is rooted in history. His father Chaim Herzog was the first Israeli president to visit China, and he personally has friendly feelings toward China. China is an important cooperation partner for Israel, and the Israeli side attaches high importance to its relations with China and cherishes the traditional friendship between the two countries and the two peoples. The Israeli side would like to deepen its friendly exchanges and cooperation in many areas with China and take the bilateral relations to new heights.
Ambassador Xiao conveyed to President Herzog the cordial greetings and best wishes from President Xi. Ambassador Xiao noted that President Xi has maintained close exchanges with President Herzog. Such interactions have provided strategic guidance for the sound and stable development of China-Israel relations. Over the past 33 years since the establishment of the diplomatic ties between China and Israel, the two countries have been upholding mutual respect and win-win cooperation. The cooperation outcomes have been bringing benefits to the two peoples. The close bond and sincere friendship, forged amid real tests and long-term challenges between China and Israel, are truly invaluable. Faced with challenges, China-Israel relations have shown strong resilience and great diversity. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. China and Israel need to jointly safeguard the outcomes of the victory, uphold international equity and justice, stay vigilant against and firmly oppose any glorification of the Nazis and Fascism. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Israeli side for the implementation of the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, for further development of the China-Israel innovative comprehensive partnership, and for the millennium-old friendship between the Chinese and Jewish people to shine even brighter.
