After the fire in Tai Po, Hong Kong, the Central Government expressed profound concern, the HKSAR Government responded with full force, and all sectors of society extended a helping hand. Support from across the country swiftly converged, demonstrating the strengths of “One Country, Two Systems.” Though the fire was merciless, people were compassionate. Chinese compatriots in Israel kept Hong Kong in their hearts. The China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification in Israel acted promptly, organizing members of the local Chinese community to make charitable donations, raising US$10,000, which has already been remitted to Hong Kong. In the spirit that “when one region faces hardship, support comes from all sides,” the Council’s charitable initiative and the solidarity of overseas Chinese vividly reflect the deep bonds of kinship and shared heritage among compatriots.
