On December 3, 2025, Ambassador Xiao Junzheng attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the Soviet Red Army Victory Monument in Netanya. The event was hosted by the Russian Embassy in Israel and joined by ambassadors of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as representatives from Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and local Jewish organizations. Together, participants paid tribute to the unknown heroes who sacrificed their lives during the Great Patriotic War.

Attendees noted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union’s Great Patriotic War, China’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and the World Anti-Fascist War. They emphasized the importance of remembering history, honoring those who gave their lives, cherishing peace, and working together for a better future. Attendees also stressed that the international community must remain vigilant against attempts by fascist and militarist forces to distort history or re-emerge in new forms. They called for collective responsibility in firmly safeguarding the correct historical narrative of World War II, upholding the post-war international order, and protecting the hard-won achievements of peace.
