Ambassador Gao Yanping Opens "Kungfu Revelations•9 Scrolls" in Celebration of the 20-Year Diplomatic Ties between China and Israel

On June 1st, as one of the highlights in the series of events to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Israel, the opening ceremony of "Kungfu Revelations•9 Scrolls" was held in Jerusalem Theatre. Ambassador Gao Yanping, and Ms. Aryl Froman, General Manager of the Ministry Culture and Sport made remarks at the opening ceremony which was mastered by Yossi Tal-Gan, Director of Israel Festival. More than 800 people were present including the Chinese diplomats, students in Israel and Israeli people from all walks of life.

Ambassador Gao Yanping extended warm welcome to the Chinese Kungfu actors and the Israeli audience. She stressed that Kungfu originated in China, but belongs to the world, and that Kungfu is not only a sport, but an art. She said the performance of "Kungfu Revelations•9 Scrolls" was a marriage of dance and martial arts, and a remolding of Kungfu. She underlined the fact that the essence of Kungfu and traditional Chinese culture is in pursuit of inner peace and harmony, and that since ancient times, the Chinese nation has been pursuing peace and harmony. She said China adheres to the path of peaceful development, and is committed to building a harmonious world of lasting peace and common prosperity.

After underlining the time-honored friendship between the Chinese and Jewish nations, Ambassador Gao said since the establishment of diplomatic relations 20 years ago, mutual respect and trust between the two peoples had been enhanced, economic and trade relations expanded, and practical cooperation deepened, which had brought tangible benefits to both peoples. Ambassador Gao wished the performance of "Kungfu Revelations•9 Scrolls" a success, and the friendship between the two peoples everlasting.

Ms. Aryl Froman congratulated Ambassador Gao on the performance of "Kungfu Revelations•9 Scrolls" in Israel on behalf of Minister of Culture and Sport Limor Livnat. She noted that considerable progress had been made in the exchanges and cooperation in cultural and other fields for the past 20 years, with more and more exchanges of visits from art performing groups of both countries. Emphasizing that the Israeli general public had a strong interest in Chinese culture, art, philosophy and food, she believed the performance would reveal the secret of traditional Chinese culture to the Israel people, and the cultural exchanges between the two countries would become even more frequent and fruitful in the future. 

Chinese Kungfu actors unveiled the hidden serenity of Kungfu and the essence of traditional Chinese culture by means of their exquisite performance, which won bursts of applause from the audience.

The performance of "Kungfu Revelations•9 scrolls" was jointly sponsored by the Embassy of China in Israel, Beijing Poly Artist Management Corporation and the Israel Festival.
