On April 2, 2015, during his visit to Israel, Special Envoy on the Middle East Issue Gong Xiaosheng met with former President Shimon Peres of Israel and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzachi Hanegbi respectively and exchanged views with them on the Israel-Palestine situation and regional hotspot issues. H.E. Zhan Yongxin, Chinese Ambassador to Israel, attended the meetings.

Gong Xiaosheng stressed that the Chinese side holds that all parties should spare no efforts to push the Middle East peace process and resolve the differences through dialogue and negotiation.

The Israeli side highly appreciated the efforts made by the Chinese side to ease tensions in the region, and expressed its willingness to restart negotiations with the Palestinian side.
