Israeli President Shimon Peres meets with the President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)

    On March 26th, Israeli President Shimon Peres met with Mr. Bai Chunli, the President of CAS while Mr. Bai was attending the Third International Nano-technology Conference in Tel Aviv. M.M.E. Gao Yanping, Ambassador of the Embassy of China to Israel, was present.

    President Peres warmly welcomed Mr. Bai to visit Israel and to attend the international Nano-technology conference, spoke highly of the achievements in the field of scientific and technological cooperation between China and Israel. He is optimistic about China's development. He hopes the scientific and technological cooperation will continue to play an important role in the bilateral relations development.

    Mr. Bai expressed his gratitude to President Peres for meeting with him. Mr. Bai said that President Shimon Peres is an old friend of Chinese people and Israeli high-tech is one of the world leaders. Mr. Bai stressed that CAS also has a strong scientific research capability and is willing to cooperate withIsrael through joint projects, scientific and personnel exchanges to further strengthen cooperation in science and technology between the two nations.

    Ambassador Gao Yanpin said she fully agreed with President Peres on the important role scientific and technological cooperation plays in the relations betweenChina and Israel. Especially, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between the two countries, both sides should take this opportunity to facilitate the pragmatic cooperation in various fields of science and technology for the benefits of the two peoples and people of the world as a whole.
