On September 28, 2022, the Chinese Embassy in Israel held an online National Day reception to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. H. E. Ambassador Cai Run delivered celebratory remarks to mark the occasion. The transcript of his remarks is as follows.

Your Excellency Minister Razvozov,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Friends,

Good morning. It gives me great pleasure to join all of you online in celebration of the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Israel, I would like to extend my warmest welcome to everyone watching our celebratory event, and my heartfelt gratitude to all friends who have long been following China’s development and supporting China-Israel cooperation.

On October 1, 1949, the People’s Republic of China was founded, which opened a new era in our nation’s history. Over the past 73 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people found a development path that suits our national conditions — socialism with Chinese characteristics. Along this path, we achieved great accomplishments that profoundly changed the country and the people’s life. China has developed into the world’s second largest economy, the biggest trader in goods and the largest manufacturer. With a population of more than 1.4 billion people, China realized the first centenary goal of completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects. We historically eliminated absolute poverty and lifted over 850 million people out of poverty. Currently, China is following a new development philosophy and formulating a new development paradigm to advance high-quality development. The Chinese people are working toward the second centenary goal of building a great modern socialist country in all respects. In the meantime, we are also sober-minded about the fact that China remains the largest developing country in the world and there is still a long way to go on our path of development.

Over the past 73 years, China adhered to its independent foreign policy of peace and stayed committed to the path of peaceful development. China has been upholding the idea of win-win cooperation, promoting a new type of international relations, and building a community of shared future for mankind. We champion humanity’s common values of peace, development, equity, justice, democracy and freedom. We have always been a force for world peace, a contributor to global development and a defender of the international order. China is committed to high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. We put forward the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative, offering Chinese wisdom and solutions for the international community to address global challenges and advance world peace and development.

This year, facing a complex and challenging development environment both at home and abroad, China stays committed to the general principle of making advances while maintaining stable performance, and takes well-coordinated steps to respond to COVID-19 and pursue economic and social development. Thanks to these efforts, we have protected people’s lives and health and ensured overall stable performance in economic and social development to the maximum extent possible. The fundamentals of the Chinese economy — its strong resilience, enormous potential, vast room for maneuver and long-term sustainability — remain unchanged. They will provide great dynamism for the stability and recovery of the world economy and broader market opportunities for all countries. China surmounted challenges including the COVID-19 and successfully held the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, presenting the world with streamlined, safe and splendid Olympic games.

The Communist Party of China (CPC) will convene its 20th National Congress on October 16th in Beijing. It will be an important meeting to be held at a critical juncture as China embarks on a new journey toward its second centenary goal of building a great modern socialist country in all respects. This national congress will act on the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, review the major achievements and valuable experience gained as the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core united and led the whole Party and Chinese people of all ethnic groups in following and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. It will also formulate programs of action and overarching policies to meet our Party and country’s new development goals and our people’s new expectations, which will bear profound significance to the building of a great modern socialist country in all respects and the great renewal of the Chinese nation.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Friends,

In their telephone conversation last November, President Xi Jinping and President Isaac Herzog reached important consensus on China-Israel relationship and charted the course for its development. As this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Israel, leaders of the two countries exchanged congratulatory messages, and the two sides successfully held the fifth meeting of the China-Israel Joint Committee on Innovation Cooperation as well as a series of celebratory events. Over the past 30 years, the bilateral relationship kept a sound momentum in general. Our cooperation in various fields brought tangible benefits to both sides. In 2021, the bilateral trade volume reached $22.8 billion. From January to July this year, our bilateral trade reached $15 billion and marked a 21% year-on-year growth. China has become Israel’s largest trading partner in Asia and the second largest in the world. We launched such cooperation projects as the Haifa New Port, the China-Israel Changzhou Innovation Park and the Shanghai Innovation Park. Innovation cooperation has become a highlight and a driving force of the bilateral relationship. Currently, both sides are striving to conclude the China-Israel FTA negotiations by the end of the year. In the meantime, new exchanges and cooperation outcomes continue to be achieved in the areas of agriculture, health, education, culture, tourism and sub-national cooperation, among others.

Looking ahead, the China-Israel cooperation enjoys huge potentials and broad prospects. We are ready to continue working with Israeli friends to implement our leaders’ important consensus, and achieve greater progress in China-Israel relations  in the next 30 years.

Before I conclude, I wish long-lasting friendship between China and Israel, and I wish all dear friends and your families health, happiness and success.

Thank you very much.
