On 24th January, Her Excellency Orna Barbivay, Minister of Economy and Industry of Israel, delivered remarks at the Online Celebration hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Israel in honor of the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and the State of Israel. Below is the transcript of her congratulatory message. 

His Excellency Ambassador Cai Run, DCM Dai, 

Distinguished Guests, 

Shalom to all of you. I’m happy and proud to be part of this celebratory event, marking the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and the State of Israel. 

Since establishing diplomatic relations between our countries, China has become one of Israel’s most important trade partners. The Chinese and Israeli economies differ in terms of characteristics and size. However, they complete each other well. That allowed us to create numerous partnerships, explore various business opportunities and collaborate in the fields of innovation that have benefited the people of our two countries over the past 30 years. 

Under my leadership, the Israeli Ministry of Economy and Industry, through the Foreign Trade Administration, has emphasized the facilitation of bilateral trade and business relations between Israel and China. My ministry is operating a record number of Commercial Offices across China, to promote business exchanges between our countries and support Israeli companies that wish to penetrate the Chinese market. 

We’re also currently in the advanced stages of negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement that will reduce barriers, expand trade, and ensure that the economic relations between our countries reach their full potential. I see great importance in deepening the economic relations between our nations and am happy to contribute to our joint effort to strengthen our trade, industry, and technological collaboration. 

I want to take this opportunity and wish the people of China a Happy New Year of the Tiger. May we have a year full of positive energy and economic prosperity.
